Caloundra Power Boat Club - Fishing Club

ABOUT US

The CPBC Fishing Club is open to male and female anglers plus junior anglers. The Club is an affiliate member of the Queensland Amateur Fishing Club Association (QAFCA).

Membership: Fishing Club members must be a financial member of the Caloundra Power Boat Club. Fishing Club membership is $40 per financial year or $75 per financial year for families. Juniors under the age of 18 years are free. All members and juniors are covered by QAFCA insurance.

Club competitions are contested on a monthly basis for offshore and estuary divisions. Club members fish the offshore competition as the one division, while the estuary competition is fished in A Grade, B Grade, Ladies and Junior divisions. Estuary divisions include fishing from a boat, beach or shoreline.

Competition boundaries for estuary anglers extend from Inskip Point to the Bribie Island Bridge and offshore boundaries extend from Noosa to Bribie Island Bridge and to 30 nautical miles east of these two points. Monthly competitions are fished between 12 Midnight Friday night and 12:00 noon Sunday only. During the year, annual bream, whiting and team specific competitions are also held. Rule variations apply to these competitions.

On average, about 30 members fish each monthly competition and enjoy both the competitive and social side of fishing. Weigh-ins for these events are held from 12:00 noon at the Caloundra Power Boat Club with registrations closing at 12.30pm on the Sunday of each competition. After a BBQ lunch we have a weigh in commencing at 1.00pm followed by the presentation of monthly winners.

Junior Support: The Fishing Club encourages and supports junior angling throughout the Sunshine Coast. Since 2005 the Club has conducted a “Schoolfish Education Program “with the Golden Beach School, held over three specific morning sessions targeting the arts of casting, baiting and fishing.

In 2006 the Club conducted its first annual “Take a Kid Fishing Day” which attracts up to 150 budding anglers competing for an extensive list of prizes and give-aways donated by many generous businesses and sponsors on the Sunshine Coast. Take A Kid Fishing Day
