The CPBC Fishing Club was formed in the early 1980s with members travelling up from Brisbane and surrounds to compete in monthly competitions.

The Caloundra Power Boat Club (CPBC) opened on 18 February 1978 with no separate social club representing the fishing club in those early days. The CPBC Fishing Club (CPBCFC) was formed in the early 1980s with members travelling up from Brisbane and surrounds to compete in monthly competitions.
The CPBCFC has gone from strength to strength over the years with present membership exceeding 50 members plus our junior anglers. The Club encourages and supports junior angling throughout the Sunshine Coast by conducting an annual “Take a Kid Fishing Day” and a “School Fish Education Program” with the Golden Beach State School.

The annual whiting competition is usually held closest to the first full or new moon in early September to coincide with the first run of large whiting in the Pumicestone Passage. This competition commences at 5:00am on the Saturday with lines up at 7:00am the following morning.
